ABSTRACT
In the present study, 210 tissue samples (70 each of muscle, liver and kidney) were analyzed for the presence of endosulfan and chlorpyrifos residues by high performance liquid chromatography using diode array detector. The study revealed that 5 (7.14%) of 70 muscle, 2 (2.85%) of70 liver and none of 70 kidney tissues were detected positive for α endosulfan residues. While, only1 (1.42%) muscle tissue sample was, positive for β endosulfan residues. Seven (10.0%) muscle tissue, 6 (8.57%) liver and 2 (2.85%) kidney samples were found positive for endosulfan sulfate residues. Amongst all the samples analysed 5 (7.14%) muscle, 4 (5.71%) liver samples showed presence of chlorpyrifos and none of kidney tissues was found positive for chlorpyrifos. However, none of these positive samples for endosulfan and chlorpyrifos showed levels above the prescribed limits. Keywords: Chlorpyrifos, endosulfan, HPLC, pesticide residues.
