ABSTRACT

Lake water samples from the vicinity of Nagpur city were subjected to quality parameters. Range of pH, temperature and conductivity remained in between 7.8 – 9.01, 31 – 32.2˚C and 15– 68 μs/cm, respectively. Colour criterion was normal for six sources, however, four samples appeared to be yellowish to green. The results of chemical parameter tested were as follows: dissolved O2 - 0.7 – 2.6 mg/l, dissolved CO2 – present in three samples, total alkalinity - 24 – 53mg/l, total hardness - 8 – 28 ppm, permanganate value - 0.4 – 10.4 ppm, chlorides - 0.004 –0.129 mg/l., nitrate - 0.5 – 4 mg/l., phosphates - 0.00 – 2.94 mg/l. - sulphates - 0.07 – 1.54 mg/l. All the samples were negative for the presence of nitrites.
