Computational Screening of Flavonoids in Garcinia gummi-gutta Against Quorum Sensing Protein LuxS in Klebsiella pneumoniae
Page No. : 31-36
ABSTRACT
Klebsiella pneumoniae is known to cause pneumonia infections in both humans and other animals. Currently, piperacillin and ceftazidime are the two commercially available, commonly administered antibiotics. Resistance gained by the K. pneumoniae against antibiotics leads to the research for newer drugs. On the basis of literature survey most of the anti-Klebsiella pneumoniae studies were focused on virulence proteins and there is no proper early diagnostic kit based on quantum dots against Klebsiella pneumoniaee. The current work focuses on the computational studies of flavonoid compounds of Garcinia gummi-gutta a against Quorum sensing protein LuxS. Garcinia Bifl avonoid1 and Kaempferol-3-O Retinoside showed best binding affi nity with binding pockets of 2FQT protein of Klebsiella species i.e 7.4kcal/mol and 6.9kcal/mol respectively. Hence we conclude that major fl avonoids in Garcinia gummi-gutta a can be used as an alternative for drug resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae. Keywords: Flavonoids, Garcinia gummi-gutta, in-silico approach, Klebsiella pneumoniae, LuxS protein, quorum sensing
