Comparative Study on Seroprevalence of Bovine Brucellosis by Serological Tests and Serum based PCR
Page No. : 9-13
ABSTRACT
Bovine serum samples (664) from ten different sources were collected and tested by serological tests (RBPT, STAT and I-ELISA) and molecular technique (serum PCR). The seroprevalence observed was 11.60%, 9.34% and 14.46% by RBPT, STAT and I-ELISA, respectively. Out of 664 sera samples, 148 comprising 98 serologically positive and 50 randomly selected negative samples were subjected to serum PCR and 42.57% were found positive. Sex-wise more serum samples of female were positive than male. Breed- wise Tharparkar and Holstein Friesian cross breed has maximum number of positive sera. Age-wise distribution indicated 5-6 years age groups are largely positive to serological tests and 6-7 years of age group by serum PCR. Relative sensitivity and specificity was calculated considering I-ELISA as standard test. Maximum relative sensitivity and specificity was found in RBPT than STAT and serum PCR.Keywords: Bovine brucellosis, I-ELISA, RBPT, serum based PCR, STAT
