ABSTRACT

Consumer awareness on the meat consumption associated health benefits is necessary to educate them about the nutritive value of meat. A study was conducted to judge the knowledge level of the consumers, both males and females, belonging to different professions including medical practioners in and around Namakkal town of Tamil Nadu. It was observed that about 22.44 % of the respondents were not aware of the nutritive value, cholesterol content and health aspects of meat eating, however about 77.56 % agreed to the positive aspects of meat eating.
