ABSTRACT
In the present investigation, we used ELISA for detection of antibodies to Brucella in bulk milk samples. A total of 290 bulk milk samples belonging to 109 dairy societies were collected at the receiving dock of processing plant of Goa State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Limited, Curti, Ponda, Goa. Out of a total of 290 bulk milk samples representing 109 dairy societies, 33 (11.38%) samples were positive for antibodies against Brucella organisms. Twenty-nine (16%) of 181 cow bulk milk samples were positive, whereas 4 (3.67%) of the 109 buffalo milk samples were positive for Brucella antibodies. Of 109 dairy societies screened, samples from 27 societies were found positive. From 2 societies, both cow and buffalo bulk milk samples were positive.
