ABSTRACT
Out of 236 pig carcasses examined at different local slaughterhouses in and around Ludhiana city of Punjab, 11 (4.66%) were found positive for hydatidosis. Hydatid cysts were mainly observed in the liver and lungs, though spleen, kidney, heart, and diaphragmatic muscles were also involved. The overall cyst fertility rate was 44.18%. The management practices followed for rearing pigs showed a significant statistical correlation with the occurrence of the disease, whereas age, sex, and breed were found to be independent factors. Keywords: Hydatidosis, Pigs, Punjab
