ABSTRACT
Forty samples of pre-scapular lymph glands, blood, milk, pharyngeal swabs, rectal pinches and faecal materials were processed from various Indian buffaloes. Forty mycobacterial isolates were recovered. All isolates were characterised by biochemical tests and PCR amplification of the 306 bp region of the insertion sequence IS1081. Out of 40 isolates, 20 were confirmed as Mycobacterium bovis, while 4 were Mycobacterium tuberculosis.Keywords: Bovine tuberculosis, Insertion sequence IS1081, Mycobacterium bovis, Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
