Evaluation of dot- ELISA for Detection of Bovine Brucellosis
Page No. : 71-73
ABSTRACT
A total of 60 cows having history of abortion and other reproductive disorders were screened against Brucella abortus infection by standard tube agglutination test (STAT), dot-enzyme linked immuno sorbent assay (dot-ELISA) and delayed hypersensitivity test (DHT). In all, 33 cows had antibodies against B. abortus. The number of animals found to be positive for brucellosis by DHT, STAT and dot-ELISA were 33.33%, 46.67% and 55.00%, respectively. All the three tests yielded consistent results for 48 animals; 21 positive and 27 negative animals. Five animals that were negative both in SAT and DHT were found to be positive in dot-ELISA. Another 7 animals were found to be positive in dot-ELISA and STAT but were negative in DHT. dot-ELISA was found to be the most sensitive while DHT was the least sensitive test. Keywords: Brucellosis, Delayed hypersensitivity test (DHT), dot-ELISA, Standard tube agglutina-tion test (STAT)
