ABSTRACT
A study was undertaken to assess the overall incidence of hydatid cysts in buffaloes and their development in experimental pups. Lungs and liver of 191 of adult buffalos slaughtered at the abattoirs at Mathura (U.P.) were examined. Among these, hydatid cysts were found in 47 (24.61%) buffaloes (32 in lungs and 15 in liver). Thus the organ wise prevalence in lungs and liver was 16.75% and 7.85%, respectively. The experimental infection could not be established in pups.Keywords: Buffaloe, Hydatidosis, Mongrel pups
