Seroprevalence of Human Brucellosis in and around Thrissur, Kerala

ABSTRACT

A total of 733 human serum samples collected from Thrissur, Kerala were screened for brucellosis using rose bengal plate test (RBPT) and standard tube agglutination test (STAT). Positive samples were further subjected to heat inactivation (HIT), 2-mercaptoethanol (MAT) and EDTA agglutination test (EAT). A seropositivity of 1.47% and 1.07% was recorded by RBPT and STAT, respectively. Whereas MET, HIT and EAT recorded seropositivity of 0.8%.
