ABSTRACT

Twenty seven isolates of lactobacilli species were processed for plasmid profile studies and only six isolates harboured a single plasmid. The plasmid size of Lactobacillus species ranged between 6.79 kb to 13.49 kb. L delbruckeii from poultry raw meat and product harboured 13.49 kb,6.92 kb plasmid, respectively. L. fermentum had 10.96 kb plasmid, while L salivarius and Lactobacillus spp. harboured 6.76 kb and 7.07 kb plasmid. Plasmid dependent and plasmid independent multiple drug resistance patterns were also found in the study.

Key Words: Chicken, chicken products, Lactobacillus, multiple drug resistance, plasmid
