ABSTRACT

A serological survey was conducted to assess the seroprevalence of bovine brucellosis in and around Thrissur. Bovine serum samples collected from 1128 slaughtered and 105 farm fed animals were screened initially by RBPT and STAT. Samples which revealed a positive reaction either in RBPT or STAT or both were subjected to HIT, MET and EAT. A seroprevalence of 7.27, 6.65, 5.59, 4.88 and 4.61% and 5.7, 5.7, 2.86, 1.9 and 0.95% were recorded by RBPT, STAT, HIT, EAT and MET in slaughtered animals and farm fed animals, respectively.
