ABSTRACT
The seroprevalence of brucellosis was studied in 17 randomly selected villages of Udham Singh Nagar and Bageshwar districts of Uttarakhand. A total of 326 serum samples (213 of goats and 113 sheep) were tested by RBPT, STAT and indirect ELISA. The overall seroprevalence was 26.99%. The species-wise seroprevalence in sheep and goats was 12.38, 5.30, 21.23% and 14.55, 9.85, 30.04% by RBPT, STAT and indirect ELISA, respectively. The prevalence was higher in females than in males and in the animals maintained in tarai than those kept in hill regions.Keywords: Brucellosis, goat, seroprevalence, sheep.
