Prevalence of Bacillus cereus Biotypes in Raw and Cooked Mutton

ABSTRACT

Analysis of 200 raw and cooked mutton samples revealed 47 samples to be positive for Bacillus cereus. Contamination of raw and cooked mutton was to an extent of 30% and 15%, respectively. Biotype 1 was the predominant biotype (34.04%) contaminating both raw and cooked mutton whereas, biotype 3 was recovered only from cooked mutton (14.90%).
