ABSTRACT
The rapid and extensive spread of the COVID-19 pandemic has become a major cause of global public health concern. The present study was performed with the objective to assess the awareness of COVID-19 disease and related infection control practices among students and employees of different professionals of India. In this study a total of 1238 responders from different region of India participated with highest number of participants from agriculture and allied sectors followed by engineering science and others. The respondent profiles were categorized on the basis of gender, employment status and profession showed the participation of 71.57% male, 28.43% female, 24.15% employees and 75.85% students. 63.49% professionals participated in this study belonged to agriculture and allied science followed by 14.86% of engineering science, 8% basic science, 2.02% medical science while 4.52 with none defined profession; 2.58% of pre-college students and 4.52 % others. The gender wise distribution of correct responses of individual question asked to a female and 60.51 to 95.45% by male participants. Similarly, the individual question wise correct response falls between 55.42 to 94.17% and 57.63 to 94.92% of male and female employees while 58.98 to 93.96% and 60.75 to 95.56% of male and female students, respectively. The finding of the present study warrants a need of periodic conduction of webinars or other educational intervention for students and professionals that may be a more suitable tool to create more awareness.Keywords: COVID-19, corona virus, hand hygiene, health care workers
