ABSTRACT

Antibiogram study of 7 STEC and 17 non-STEC isolates recovered from milk products against 23 antibiotics revealed multiple drug resistance. STEC isolates showed more resistance to cephalexin, trimethoprim, sulphamethoxazole and tetracycline than non-STEC isolates. All STEC isolates showed resistance to more than 12 antibiotics tested. An alarming trend was observed i.e., 4 STEC isolates recovered from milk cake were resistant to more than 15 antibiotics. Cluster analysis of antibiogram of VTEC isolates indicated relatedness among isolates of milk cake.
