Isolation of Salmonella from the Faeces of Captive Wolves

ABSTRACT

In the present study out of 28 carnivorous animals (maintained at Lucknow and Nainital zoos) tested; two wolves were excreting Salmonella in their faeces. Out of the two isolates one was rough and the other belonged to Salmonella enterica ssp enterica serovar Nessziona. Both the isolates showed resistance to streptomycin, colistin, nitrofurantoin, tetracycline and kanamycin.
