ABSTRACT

Infections of Escherichia coli and Salmonella have been regarded as the most important food-borne zoonoses responsible for food poisoning. In-vitro antibiogram of E. coli and Salmonella isolates from chicken meat was studied against 15 different commonly available antimicrobial agents. E. coli isolates were found to be highly sensitive to ciprofloxacin (98.15%), while lowest sensitivity was observed against nitrofurantoin (31.48%). Similarly, Salmonella isolates were highly sensitive to ciprofloxacin (100%) and least sensitive to tetracycline (12.50%). None of the E. coli and Salmonella isolates showed sensitivity to ampicillin.
