Bacteriological Examination of Ice and its Public Health Significance
Page No. : 129-132
ABSTRACT
Ice samples collected from vendors in Bikaner city were subjected to detailed bacteriological examination. The results indicated that on the basis of standard plate count, coliform, E. coli, staphylococcal, faecal streptococci and psychrophilic counts 64%, 100%, 64%, 68%, 100% and 72% ice samples, respectively, were of unfit grade. The findings here indicate poor quality of ice, which may be due to unhygienic practices or poor quality of water used in manufacturing of the ice. Keywords: Bacteriological quality, coliform, ice, SPC
