ABSTRACT

Some of the important but neglected pathogens such as Arcobacter, Helicobacter and Campylobacter which are not only developed the antimicrobial resistance mechanisms but also have the pathogenic potential have been not studied well. Therefore, 350 samples consisting of human diarrhoeic stool (n=50), pig feces (n=50), cattle feces (n=100) and poultry droppings (n=150) were collected and processed for isolation of Arcobacter followed by biochemical characterization. Suspected isolates were then subjected to uniplex PCR using genus specific primers (Arco-I and Arco-II) and multiplex PCR assay (viz. A. buand A. skirrowii) using species specific primers.
