Molecular Toxino-typing of Clostridium perfringens Isolated from Dairy Farm Workers
Page No. : 17-20
ABSTRACT
The presence and molecular characterization of Clostridium perfringens among dairy farm workers was investigated in this study. Overall, a high prevalence (55.31%) of C. perfringens was detected. Stool samples of dairy workers from 5 of the 6 farms were positive for this pathogen. Type A was the most prominent toxino-type with a prevalence rate of 50% (13/26), followed by type C (23.07%, 6/26), type A with cpe (11.53%, 3/26), and Type A with cpb2 and cpe positive (11.53%, 3/26) One isolate was positive for type D. Furthermore, 23.07% of the C. perfringens isolates were positive for enerotoxin gene. Keywords: Clostridium perfringens, dairy workers, enterotoxin, toxinotype
